Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA)
The Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) of 1995 requires that agencies obtain Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval before collecting most types of information from the public. Public information collections come in a variety of formats (e.g. surveys, forms, or collections).
All Army activities must seek public comment on any/all information collections that will be collecting data on members of the public and submit the proposed collections for review through an Army IMCO for final approval by OMB. Upon approval of the information collection by OMB, a three year control number will be granted.
The information collection request or PRA clearance request + OMB Approval ---> OMB control number = PRA Clearance (also known as OMB clearance).
